LinkedIn Profile Essentials

Relevant - Keeping your LinkedIn profile up to date and relevant to your current offerings should be your first step in taking advantage of this powerful marketing and social platform. Just like on other social platforms, most of your activity and what you showcase is available for all to see.

Services - If you offer a service, like brand collaboration or freelance health writing, then make sure the viewer knows how to contact you to work with you.

Network - Work on building your network of fellow health professionals and media contacts.

How to Use LinkedIn to Attract Opportunity

By using keywords relevant to the service you provide or the work you do helps you show up in searches by people searching for you or people like you.

Once you connect with key people looking to work with you, they can provide references and referrals.

How to Use LinkedIn to Find Opportunity

LinkedIn is a great way to find contacts to pitch. You can search by job title, such as "Editor", or the company name or other relevant search criteria. You can then send that contact a message if they are in your network to pitch them on your idea and services.

How to Use LinkedIn to Validate Your Business

There are several ways to authenticate and validate your business and your services as a Media Dietitian or a dietitian who works with brands with paid partnerships. Here are two ways to showcase your authority.

1. Recommendation Section

Having Recommendations, relevant to your current and past services, boosts your credibility and authority. Reach out to your network and ask if they can give you a Recommendation.

Likewise, you can return the favor by sending them a Recommendation. They have the option to accept or decline your Recommendation. If accepted, your Recommendation will be displayed on their profile.

If you receive and accept a Recommendation from someone you have worked with, those words count as powerful testimonials.

Try to get one Recommendation from each job or major project you have worked on.

2. Featured Section
