Youth Nutrition Specialist

We are seeking a motivated and relationship-focused Youth Nutrition Specialist to support our mission across a designated territory in Northeast and Central New York. This position partners with K-12 school districts to implement evidence-based programs and initiatives that promote healthy nutrition, increase student participation in school meal programs, and support the increase of milk and dairy sales throughout the service region market area.
Compensation: $85,000 – $90,000 Annually
This range reflects ADANE’s good-faith estimate of the compensation for this position at the time of posting. The final offer will be based on relevant experience, qualifications, and internal equity.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with, but not limited to, school nutrition directors, school administrators, local/state partners i.e., anti-hunger groups, departments of education and agriculture.
- Responsible for successful placement of ADANE K-12 school nutrition and wellness marketing programs.
- Monitor school nutrition regulations to remain abreast of current events and issues.
- Develop customized marketing materials to facilitate the placement of programs.
- Collect, analyze, and evaluate data that supports school nutrition programs.
- Plan and develop conferences and meetings for school district decision - makers.
- Bachelor’s degree in nutrition or related field is required.
- Minimum of five (5) years of experience in child nutrition program operations, sales operations, management, and/or child nutrition program sales.
- Sales and marketing skills preferred.
- Valid Driver’s License with a safe driving record and access to a vehicle for business travel.
- The ability to travel for business up to 50% of the time during the work week is required to fulfill the school marketing program needs.
- Must maintain a home office within or near the Northeast and Central New York service area.
- Occasional weekends and overnight business travel required within and outside ADANE’s territory.
- Ability to develop, manage and execute clear action plans and projects.
- Ability to design, develop, implement, and evaluate programs.
- Ability to use effective consultative sales skills in communicating K-12 school nutrition program information orally and in writing to a wide range of clients.
- Ability to plan, organize, coordinate media activities and promotional events.
- Ability to create, compose, and edit written materials with excellent attention to detail.
- Skilled in establishing priorities and working with minimal supervision.
- Ability to engage in clear and detailed oral and written communication with external and internal clients effectively from a wide range of constituencies in diverse communities.
- Ability to develop and deliver effective oral and written presentations.
- Understands and reviews monthly assigned budgets and expenses for programs and projects.
- Ability to draft routine reports and correspondence.
- Ability to develop and maintain recordkeeping in on-line systems and follow procedures.
- Ability to work across the organization to foster collaboration and ensure overall success of goals.
Preferred Skills and Experience:
The work location is a home office. It must be based and located in New York State within or near the targeted Northeast and Central New York areas.
