GOVERNMENT OPERATIONS CONSULTANT II
This position is responsible for professional work within the Local Operations Unit of the Bureau of WIC Program Services. The work requires a high degree of initiative, independent decision making, judgment, accuracy and understanding of program operations.
Responsibilities include monitoring local WIC agencies through on‑site and desk reviews, analyzing program data, and preparing comprehensive written reports. The role also provides extensive technical assistance and training to local agencies, supports corrective action planning, and evaluates agency compliance through ongoing reviews.
The position develops and updates policies, procedures, training materials, and program documentation to ensure alignment with federal and state requirements. It requires interpreting complex laws and rules, contributing to operational problem-solving teams, and maintaining consistent communication standards across materials. Additional duties include supporting daily phone coverage, resolving complaints, participating in staff development activities, and assisting with organizational training needs. The role is fully funded by the federal WIC grant and involves continual collaboration with federal, state, and bureau staff to improve WIC program operations.
Qualifications:
Able and willing to physically come into the office to perform the duties & responsibilities of this position is a minimum. Experience in program planning, policy development, program implementation, and/or program evaluation is preferred. Experience in monitoring for compliance with programmatic rules and regulations is preferred. Knowledge and experience with WIC or similar public health or public assistance programs is highly preferred.
