Describe a typical (or not so typical) day-in-the-work-life for you?
There is never a dull moment working within a pediatric endocrinology clinic! I see children and their families for nutrition consultations, complete school orders for our patients with diabetes, and consult with members of the interdisciplinary team. I also research the latest technology available for our patients.

How did you get your current job in dietetics?
Since becoming a RD, I developed a big passion for diabetes management and spent many years volunteering and precepting for our state’s diabetes camps for children. I also went on to obtain my Certified Diabetes Care and Education Specialist (CDCES) credential. I had been working for Renown Health for 8 years within their Health Improvement Programs department when a new role opened up within pediatric endocrinology. I jumped at the opportunity right away!

What skills were you born with and what skills have you learned along the way?
I was born with a passion for teaching and love educating patients and students alike. I have learned empathy for patients. Being able to put myself in their shoes allows me to better connect with patients and understand their hurdles.

What advice do you have for others wanting to be just as successful and fulfilled as you?
Find what you’re passionate about and dive in headfirst! Learn all you can and don’t be afraid to stumble while working towards something you love.

If you could be paid for your job with something other than a paycheck, what
would it be?
Cheeseburgers and steak!
