Describe a typical (or not so typical) day-in-the-work-life for you? There is no typical day. That has been something hard to come to terms to and I’ve built a couple of routines to help my brain be okay with it. Each morning I will look at the previous day’s list of tasks and create a new one for the day. I don’t always get everything done, but that’s okay. I have 4 areas I work on each week: sales, social media/marketing, new build, and bug fixes. Monday thru Thursday are each assigned one of those areas. On Fridays, I will do planning for the next week so I’m ready to hit the ground running on Monday.

How did you get your current job in dietetics? I created it! I have always wanted a flexible schedule and to have the freedom to work on my ideas. When I was a dietetics student, I was a member of the Nutrition Entrepreneurs DPG knowing that, when the time was right, I would start my own venture.

What skills were you born with and what skills have you learned along the way? Two things that come naturally to me are math and attention to detail. Those two skills led me to get my undergrad degree in computer science. I was also born with procrastination! I have learned to set a time limit for tasks and when the limit is over the task is complete. I repeat the saying in my head “Done is better than perfect”. Learning to manage my time has been critical as I also work for a hospital system and have two kids (ages 5 and 2). I try to always ask myself if what I am currently doing is a priority. If it’s not a priority, I catch myself move on.

What advice do you have for others wanting to be just as successful and fulfilled as you? Find what makes you happy and move towards it a little each day. Persistence is key. Even if you only find 15 minutes a day to work on the area you really want to be in, that is a start. It took over 3 years for Dietitian Hub to come to life and it was bit by bit. Keep chugging along because seeing your dream become a reality is pure joy!

If you could be paid for your job with something other than a paycheck, what would it be? Pizza! No really, pizza. Other than that, it would be education. I am one of those weirdos who loves being in school.
