Describe a typical (or not so typical) day-in-the-work-life for you?
- Disseminate information for consumers to “Protect their Plates.”
- The world’s food safety news, extract the most pertinent and helpful, and re-post it on social media.
- Conference with my intern on our latest blog topic.
- Immerse myself in some activity to further my entrepreneurial skills.
- Offer a service, a kindness or support to enhance another nutrition entrepreneur’s efforts.
- Celebrate each small success, each sale, and each new signup to my site.
How did you get your current job in dietetics?
After decades of leading Food & Nutrition Services at Ohio State University Medical Center, serving millions of meals, all safely…I decided to retool post retirement to applying these skills to enable consumers to keep food safe at home.
What skills were you born with and what skills have you learned along the way?
- Born with determination, persistence, and resilience.
- Learned to be a better listener in order to become a better leader.
- A skill I will never have: patience.
What advice do you have for others wanting to be just as successful and fulfilled as you?
Always seek the advice and expertise of others. There’s not a project that won’t benefit from collective wisdom. Invest in your network. Give more than you receive. Champion your colleagues. Take the heat for them when necessary.
