What attracted you to the field of nutrition and dietetics? Ever since I can remember, I was cooking and baking in the kitchen with my mom, and became interested in nutrition when I gained weight as a child. I learned how to eat right and exercise to keep my weight down. As I grew up I started to see the relationship between food, feeling good, and looking good. I now understand the role nutrition plays in the prevention of the diseases that run in my family as well, such as diabetes, heart disease, and Alzheimer’s.

Describe a typical (or not so typical) day-in-the-work-life for you? Exercising, checking emails, reading new research and staying abreast of the new trends, writing posts or articles, answering calls for new patients, seeing patients, checking with insurance companies, researching, preparing for patients, preparing for presentations and wellness classes, charting, billing, communicating with other dietitians, developing recipes, cooking demos, taking pictures, interviewing chefs.
How did you get your current job in dietetics? I started my own business in order to be able to have flexible work hours, and be able to work for myself and do what I love.
What skills were you born with and what skills have you learned along the way? I have always been able to communicate and connect with others, empathy, determined, and a thirst for knowledge. I have learned along the way to listen more, be more flexible, adaptable, and have a positive outlook. What advice do you have for others wanting to be just as successful and fulfilled as you? Be determined and focused, work hard, set goals, go after your dream.
If you could be paid for your job with something other than a paycheck, what would it be? Travel, and meals at great restaurants
