What attracted you to the field of nutrition and dietetics? I have always loved to work with food and people. When I learned about the profession of Registered Dietitians and all the things they can do, I jumped right into it and I’ve never looked back. The diverse ways of using food to help people improve their health and quality of life was like a magic match to what I’ve always wanted to do.

Describe a typical (or not so typical) day-in-the-work-life for you? I work part-time in a community medical center and part-time in my home office. My schedule in the community medical center is fixed, whereas my schedule of my private practice varies a lot. Somedays, I would have conference calls as early as 6am and as late as 11pm. A typical day for me would be working in the community medical center part of the day, then spending some time with my family, and doing work for my private practice as I have planned on my calendar.

How did you get your current job in dietetics? I explored and created it with curiosity and an open mind. I usually have multiple part-time jobs at the same time. I network with people locally and via professional social media platforms. I select projects that inspire me to be the best I can be in serving others.

What skills were you born with and what skills have you learned along the way? I was born with the skills of being in curiosity and communicating with others. The skills I learned along the way are having amusement of others’ behaviors, being in neutrality of others’ choices, and making my choices mindfully every step of the way.

What advice do you have for others wanting to be just as successful and fulfilled as you? One advice I learned to give myself and others is to truly practice what you preach. Only then, you will have the essence of your intentions and become the amazing agent of your services.

If you could be paid for your job with something other than a paycheck, what would it be? I would be happy to be paid by opportunities to share lessons I have learned in my journey with others and inspire them to explore ways to expand their services to places they have not imagined before.
