What attracted you to the field of nutrition and dietetics?
When I was young, my sister was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes. From a young age I knew the impact that food had on health, I saw her work with a dietitian, and I knew I wanted to help others the same way one day.

Describe a typical (or not so typical) day-in-the-work-life for you?
I have worked from home for the past two years and I am so thankful to now have my very own SheShed office, so work is just a short walk away. On a typical day, I spend time responding to emails, Instagram comments, creating blog content, recipe development, food photography, and media relations.

How did you get your current job in dietetics?
I started my career in the clinical setting while working on my blog part-time on the side. After two years, I was able to leave clinical and focus on my business full-time. My career has been a constant of exploring niche after niche until I finally settled into the cannabis space. I now combine my science and nutrition background with cannabis science to provide evidence-based cannabis education to my readers and clients.

What skills were you born with and what skills have you learned along the way?
I think I was born with an entrepreneurial spirit, but I’ve had to learn some serious business skills along the way. Marketing and selling have not come naturally to me, and not something I learned in school, but are critical to running a successful business.

What advice do you have for others wanting to be just as successful and fulfilled as you?
Always trust your gut and follow your intuition! While it’s not always easy, it is always worth it.

If you could be paid for your job with something other than a paycheck, what
would it be?
Tacos! Or anything sparkly!
