Meet Corinne Kantor, a successful entrepreneur dietetic technician, registered (DTR). She’s stepped outside of the standard career path and started 2 of her own companies! Read how she incorporates her passion for health to enhance her career and inspire other DTRs to find their dream jobs. – Sarah What attracted you to the field of nutrition and dietetics? Several years ago after learning I had a problem with my blood sugar, I met with a Registered Dietitian and thought she had an interesting job. I then went on to get an undergraduate degree in nutrition. I thought I would use my dietetics degree with my journalism degree and become a nutrition writer.

Describe a typical (or not so typical) day-in-the-work-life for you? Read my e-mail, go on social media to see what people are talking about today, come up with ideas for blog articles and e-books, work on my next newsletter. I’m also working on some other projects, and I recently started a web site for DTRs.
How did you get your current job in dietetics? I started my own business.
What skills were you born with and what skills have you learned along the way? I think I was born with writing and organizational skills, plus I’m very personable.
I have had to find ways to be creative and unique, plus I’m always learning new technical skills.
What advice do you have for others wanting to be just as successful and fulfilled as you? You have to be determined and dedicated, and feel comfortable with what you are doing. I think that these days, you have to think outside of the box to be successful.
If you could be paid for your job with something other than a paycheck, what would it be? Clients letting me know that I made a positive difference in their life, a fun vacation (like a trip to the College World Series), and a huge gourmet kitchen.
