Job Description and Requirements
The Georgia Department of Public Health is the lead agency entrusted by the people of the state of Georgia with the ultimate responsibility for the health of communities and the entire population.
The agency is seeking a highly qualified candidate for the position of Women, Infants and Children (WIC) Director within the Division of Health Promotion.
The Director of the Women, Infants and Children (WIC) Special Supplemental Nutrition Program will provide leadership and direction for this federally-funded program for infants and children age 1-5 years (including foster children), pregnant women, breastfeeding mothers (up to 1 year) and postpartum women (up to 6 months). Currently the WIC section comprises the following units: Program Operations and Nutrition Services, Vendor Management, Program Administration and Program Integrity and Strategy. The Administration and Strategy units are responsible for the financial operations and human resources, communications, compliance and outreach aspects of the WIC section. The Program Operations and Nutrition Services unit administers the nutrition program and related operations including breastfeeding and the dietetic internship. The Vendor Management unit manages vendor relations, vendor compliance and costs containment strategy. All four units work in a collaborative manner to integrate activities as needed to achieve the mission of the WIC section and the Department of Public Health (DPH).
Doctorate degree in a related field from an accredited college or university AND Four years of management/supervisory experience in health care services
Two years at the lower level (HCM013) or position equivalent
Master's degree in a related field from an accredited college or university AND Five years of management/supervisory experience in health care services
Bachelor's degree in a related field from an accredited college or university AND Six years of management/supervisory experience in health care services.
Note: Some positions may require certification and/or licensure.
Experience implementing and maintaining large systems changes particularly management information systems
Previous experience in the Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants, and Children or the Farmer's Market Nutrition Program
Experience administering large federal programs
Significant experience in one or more of the following â business administration, accounting, public administration, retail grocery operation, investigations and monitoring, and/or nutrition

Current State employees are subject to State Personnel Board rules regarding salary.
DPH accepts educational credential recognized by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA) and/or the US Department of Education (DOE) will be considered. DPH will contact educational institutions to verify degree, diploma, licensure, etc.
