Under the direction and supervision of the WIC Program Director, the WIC Nutritionist/ Site Coordinator provides leadership to the nutrition program, and provides nutrition education and counseling to participants. The WIC Nutritionist/ Site Coordinator works closely with the WIC Program Director to ensure all program goals are achieved.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
ÃÂ· Provides input to the development and implementation of statewide and local agency goals and initiatives for both nutrition and breastfeeding programs.
ÃÂ· Oversee and monitor all program operations in the absence of the director.
Â· Responsible for completion of Quality Assurance Program evaluations for direct site team members.
Â· Coordinate and manage site specific outreach events.
Â· Provides input to the development and implementation of the Local Agency Compliance & Self-Assessment Quality Assurance Review (LACASA).
Â· Facilitates in-service for nutrition education sessions and income assessment/scheduling for both Nutritionists and Nutrition Assistants.
Â· Monitors and ensures that manual checks, SFFIÃ¢s and WICSIS equipment are secured at all times.
ÃÂ· Updates and audits NYS Policy and Procedure Manual, training binders, modules, Vendor Complaint logs, Lost and Stolen Check logs, SFFI tracking logs, Help Desk logs, training logs.
Â· Monitor and coordinates daily work flow and tasks.
Â· Schedules site team members for relevant and appropriate trainings.
Â· Provides and documents nutrition education for individual and group sessions.
Â· Prescribe, tailor, authorize, issue and reissue food packages for participants including manual checks, special formula changes according to participant requirements.
Â· Track participantsÃ¢ progress in established goals in order to improve their overall health.
Â· Coordinates and develops site schedule, facilitated group discussion schedule and site activities.
Â· Develop a full understanding of the rules and regulations of the WIC programÃ¢s guidelines at both the State and federal levels.
Â· Adhere to the requirements of Open Door Family Medical Center and have knowledge of the National Patient Safety Goals of the Joint Commission in order to have WIC staff prepared for any unannounced survey.
Â· Performs other duties as assigned and needed.
Â· Bachelors or Masters Degree in Nutritional Sciences, Community Nutrition, Clinical or Human Nutrition, Dietetics, Foods and Nutrition, or Public Health Nutrition from a regionally accredited college or university or one recognized by NYS Education Department as following acceptable educational practices.
Â· One year experience in community nutrition
Â· Experience with limited resource population and culturally diverse population.
Â· Bi-Lingual especially Spanish speaking desirable.
Â· Must possess experience in verbal and written communications, clinical and case management, department operations, public relations, and superior customer service skills.
