General Summary of Duties:
This position serves as a Competent Professional Authority (CPA), and is responsible for developing and providing the Nutrition Education Program as well as nutrition counseling.
Typical Physical Demands:
Requires sitting for long periods of time in an office environment. Some bending, stooping, lifting and stretching required. Requires ability to work under stressful conditions. Requires eye-hand coordination and manual dexterity sufficient to operate a computer keyboard, photocopier, telephone and other office equipment. Ability to hear normal voice ranges.
Typical Working Environment: Work performed primarily in a normal office environment, but will occasionally be off-site in various types of settings. Will involve working evenings and occasional weekends. May require contact with individuals with communicable diseases and other conditions in the clinic setting.

Ã¢Â¢ Complete the ADP application, certification procedure and documentation,
including measurement of height, weight and hemoglobin.
Ã¢Â¢ Evaluate clients' nutritional status through dietary assessments and consults and makes recommendations in relation to nutritional needs, family income cultural food patterns, home facilities, and modifications in diet.
Ã¢Â¢ Create and tailor a food prescription using the ADP application that is appropriate to the participantÃ¢s needs.
Ã¢Â¢ Issue and explain food benefits and explain the issuance period.
Ã¢Â¢ Document assessments, evaluations, counseling, and referrals on the ADP application.
Ã¢Â¢ Schedule appointments suing the ADP scheduler based on parameters and instructions from the supervisor.
Ã¢Â¢ Provide educational programs for clients in the form of classes or demonstrations and maintains related plans, files and records.
Ã¢Â¢ Provide all pregnant and breastfeeding women with nutrition education opportunities that promote and support breastfeeding.
Ã¢Â¢ Maintains documents (forms/letters) recommended by State WIC
Ã¢Â¢ Make home visits on special case by case basis.
Ã¢Â¢ Provide individual nutritional counseling to participants
Ã¢Â¢ Evaluate and procure nutrition education materials.
Ã¢Â¢ Make referrals as needed.
Ã¢Â¢ Able to perform duties of clinic assistant as needed.
Ã¢Â¢ Participate in in-service education, and staff meetings, and provide nutrition information to staff.
Ã¢Â¢ Attend conferences and meetings needed or required by the position and participates in committees as requested.
Ã¢Â¢ Serve as nutrition spokesperson for the agency to the degree delegated by the supervisor.
Ã¢Â¢ Perform all other duties as assigned.

Ã¢Â¢ Skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with clients, staff and the public at large.
Ã¢Â¢ Skill of interviewing and communicating to elicit information and cooperation from clients.
Ã¢Â¢ Knowledge of group dynamics.
Ã¢Â¢ Ability to work with computer software programs, such as Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.
Ã¢Â¢ Ability to interpret and communicate agency rules, regulations and procedures.
Ã¢Â¢ Ability to adapt to changing environment.
Ã¢Â¢ Ability to be flexible and prioritize work effectively.
Ã¢Â¢ Possess understanding of individualÃ¢s socioeconomic status and lifestyle with respect for individual differences.
Ã¢Â¢ Able to function as a member of a multidisciplinary team.
Ã¢Â¢ Ability to prioritize work assignments and departmental responsibilities.
Education: Registered Dietitian (R.D.) preferred
Experience: Previous experience in a maternal and child health or public health setting preferred.
