As a Supervising Nutritionist, you will have a unique opportunity to work at the top of your skills and licensure in providing critical and invaluable contribution to a team of providers, and to interface with a multicultural patient population.
Provides clinical and administrative supervision to clerical, paraprofessional and professional WIC staff.
Supervision of staff includes CQA/I activities such as reviewing daily files, observations of nutrition education, breastfeeding support and the issuance of food instruments, to ensure quality and appropriateness of services and professional care and compliance with WIC policies and procedures.
Monitor and evaluates staff's work performance, completes staff evaluations, evaluates workloads, and assigns work.
Personnel functions include making recommendations to the WIC Manager around hiring, firing, disciplining, training and developing of staff.
Direct Services includes -- conducting nutrition screening, assessment and counseling, and implements nutrition care plans for low and high risk patients and accurately documents participant contacts, including enrollment and re-certification in ISIS (Integrated Statewide Information System).
Assists in planning, development and implementation of nutrition and breastfeeding classes as well as one-one learner centered sessions.
Provides nutrition/health education in-services to staff and other health care professionals.
Assists in the development and evaluation of culturally relevant nutrition education materials such as pamphlets, audiovisual aids, books, and handouts.
Assists in the development, implementation and monitoring of the Nutrition Service Plan, Nutrition Education Plan, scheduling, and equipment inventory.
Attends internal and external meetings pertinent to implementation of the WIC program.
May be responsible for providing and coordinating field instruction for nutrition students.
Serves as the Local Lender Liaison, representing the agency locally and at state meetings.
Other clinical, administrative, and operational duties as assigned by manager.
May require attendance at pertinent WIC conferences as needed.

Advanced computer skills in Microsoft office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) required, and graphic design preferred.
Advanced internet research skills with an ability to analyze and evaluate situations, reach sound conclusions, and make appropriate recommendations to the supervisor.
Strong problem solving skills.
Ability to deal courteously and effectively via telephone or face-to-face with a wide variety of people from a broad range of backgrounds.
Excellent customer service skills required.
Excellent organizational skills, sensitive to detail and deadlines in a multitasking environment.
Ability to spell correctly and communicate effectively orally and in writing, and make accurate mathematical computations.
Excellent telephone skills required.
Sufficient skill in typing to complete a minimum of 25-30 wpm.
Ability to work independently as well as be a team player.
Bilingual English/Spanish required.
Must have minimum one year of individual nutrition counseling experience.
Registered Dietitian preferred but not required.
Supervision experience preferred but not required.
Must have a Bachelor's degree in Nutrition or related field.
Must have minimum one year of individual nutrition counseling experience.

WIC experience preferred.
