Job Description and Requirements
The Senior Scientist provides nutrition science expertise to help bring global innovations in pediatric nutrition to market, and advises on nutrition science matters with the potential to impact the company. He or she will work across functions and departments in order to accomplish objectives. This position is based in Evansville, Indiana.
-Member of the Global Nutrition Science department.
-Provide nutrition science guidance and support regarding safety, nutritional suitability, and efficacy of new ingredients and formulas, to facilitate development & implementation of nutritional innovation projects for infants and children.
-Provide scientific leadership and technical input on claims development, substantiation and review; and on nutrition positions and policies. Contribute to the development of integrated, tactical, science-based global and regional communication plans.
-Monitor and evaluate the nutrition science landscape, ingredients, technology and intellectual property opportunities.
-Determine science-based nutrition profiles for new and improved products.
-Effectively communicate across technical and non-technical audiences internally & externally.
-Network broadly & collaborate with internal & external technical community to assure access to current and innovative technologies and scientific advances, and to maintain credibility with the external scientific and regulatory communities. Participate in professional societies, regional and international trade organizations, and other sectors as appropriate.
-Advanced degree, Ph.D. preferred, in nutrition or related field, with excellent general knowledge of nutrition.
-2+ years of relevant experience preferred.
-Experience in pediatric nutrition preferred.
-Excellent interpersonal skills including the ability to develop effective working relationships and networks with culturally and technically diverse groups.
-Ability to evaluate & translate complex technical information to identify opportunities for new/reformulated products, and/or more compelling messaging for existing products.
-Ability to manage projects, prioritize responsibilities, and deliver a full range of results under tight time constraints.
-Superior writing and reporting skills.
-Willingness to travel, including internationally.
