Job Description and Requirements

What are we looking for?
Kellen is seeking a professional to serve as Scientific and Nutrition Coordinator. The Coordinator will be responsible for developing, organizing and implementing multiple scientific and nutrition affairs initiatives and projects for association clients related to the food industry. The Coordinator will have the opportunity to make a difference by advancing client objectives through working with committees and/or groups within clients. The Coordinator will also monitor, analyze, interpret, summarize and critique scientific/technical information principally relevant to food products and assist with the development of consensus positions for industry.


Responsibilities:
- Review scientific reports, articles etc., summarize as needed and make recommendations for association action which could range from development of position statements, critiques, or review articles to press releases or social media content.
- Represent clients in scientific/technical meetings and provide written meeting summaries.
- Stay abreast of client industry trends in the scientific and nutrition area and bring these to the attention the internal team for the development of recommended solutions for the client.
- Participate in science, food safety and/or nutrition-focused committees or groups for multiple clients, including assistance with projects to develop industry consensus positions on a timely basis, and work with internal teams and/or association client members.
- Participate in regular client meetings/conference calls, including preparing agendas and any other meeting materials, drafting and circulating meeting/call minutes, and conducting other necessary follow up utilizing a consistent process.
- Communicate frequently with internal team and clients, as appropriate.
- Meet deadlines.
- Assist with issues management on crisis related issues, as needed.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with clients, health professionals, scientists and other stakeholders.


Am I qualified?
- Degree in a discipline related to science (e.g., food science, nutrition, public health) or related field and 1-3 yearsâ experience is desired.
- Registered Dietician (RD) and food industry experience a plus.
- Knowledge of food safety regulations and processes beneficial.
- Excellent communicator and project manager.
- Strong analytical and organizational skills with consistent attention to detail and deadlines.
- Conscientious interest in problem-solving and initiative, creativity and determination to evolve successful solutions.
- Self-motivated team player who is accountable for moving projects through to completion with a minimum of management direction.
- Positive team player in a challenging and changing environment; includes working with a broad range and levels of personnel and clients.
- High energy, versatile and multi-task oriented with flexibility to prioritize diverse workload under competing time requirements and changing deadlines.
- Computer experience to include Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc. with the *Can Do* approach to different and diverse software packages. Experience with EndNote a plus.
