Job Summary

The Veterans Canteen Service (VCS) at the Jefferson Barracks VA Medical Center in St. Louis, MO is seeking a Registered Dietician.

Job Description:

This position serves as a technical nutrition expert to management officials within the VCS Food Operations Program nationwide.

Duties Include, but not limited to the following:

. Participates in a continuing program for staff development of food service task, planning of menus to meet nutritional needs, preparation and service of quality food.

.Provides professional and administrative direction in controlling food supply, budgets, food service equipment, etc.

.Participates in the formulation and refinement of operating standard, policies and procedures for the nutritional program of VCS.

. Assures conformance with overall policy of the agency, department, and medical centers.

.Evaluates VCS Food Operations program through on-site visits, review of operational reports, and identifies program needs,/problems and makes recommendations for improvements.

. Participates in researching, testing, and evaluating food items, recipes, serving systems and equipment related to nutrition and makes recommendations for menu items.

. Participates in planning, conducting and evaluating training, conferences and workshops for employees nationwide.

. Remains up-to-date in areas of professional knowledge of quantity food production with a focus on quality production, sanitation, food cost, presentation, and patient food service programs.

. Develops written materials and ideas related to current trends in health and wellness for employee Health and Wellness Program.

Work Schedule: Monday through Friday, 7:30am - 4:00pm

. 5 years of experience with...
. 3 years leadership experience with demonstrated knowledge and expertise in hospital food service utilizing a technology based menu program.

. Knowledge of nutrition technology programs with evidence of experience or credentials in nutrition informatics related to patient meal service, menu programs, and interface applications.

. Bachelor's Degree, Master's preferred, in dietetics program accredited by the Accreditation Council for Education in Nutrition and Dietetics (ACEND)

. Successful completion of the Registered Examination for Dietitians, administered by the Commission on Dietetic Registration.

. Possesses effective communication skills.

. Experienced in operating computer systems such as Microsoft EXCEL, PowerPoint and Word.

. Must be able to multi-task and work effectively to meet deadlines
. Periodic travel required.
