JOB SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:

Responsible for the nutrition care management of assigned patientsâ completing initial nutrition assessments, care plans, consults, monthly documentation or as required and annual review.
Maintains and improves knowledge and skills for a competent and innovative practice.

Responsible for maintaining dietetic registration and continuing education hours as specified by the American Dietetic Association.
Responsible for participating in facility meetings-stand-up, QA, care plans as well as medical rounds as needed.

Participates in state and federal facility inspections as needed.

Responsible for upholding company and facility policies as delineated in policy and procedure manuals.

Develops nutrition related policies as needed.

Reviews results of patient satisfaction surveys.

Examines and act upon areas addressing nutrition care/practice that can be improved or changed.
Participates in continuous quality improvement activities.

Responsible for comprehensive nutrition assessment including short term care plan and long-term program within one month of admission.

Responsible for nutrition care management and collaborating with interdisciplinary team to obtain expected clinical outcomes.
Recommends appropriate feeding methods, internal formula or feeding patterns.

Makes independent decisions pertaining to the dietary department without supervision from immediate supervisor.
Uses discretion and independent judgment as it relates to the dietary department in a timely and efficient manner.

Supervisory Responsibilities
Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws.

Education and/or Experience
Bachelor's degree (B. S.) from four-year college or university in Nutrition and current license/certification in State of Maryland required.
Minimum one (1) year experience in dietary and training and/or experience in a long-term care or sub-acute setting preferred.
Language Skills Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.

Mathematical Skills
Ability to add and subtract two digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10âs and 100âs. Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume and distance.

Reasoning Ability
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
