Job Description and Requirements
Working out of our headquarters on Polk Street in San Francisco, the Registered Dietitian will work in the Nutrition Services Department to effectively provide nutritional assessment to all clients with particular focus on our monolingual Chinese clients. As part of the nutrition team the RD develops educational materials and curricula, participates in research projects, assess needs of client community and adapt programming and medically tailored meals as needed to meet the needs of critical illness and unique challenges faced by Project Open Hand clients.
This position is ideal for a compassionate, professional dietitian who would like to help us continually improve our programs that help sustain our clients as they battle serious illnesses, food insecurity, isolation, or the health challenges of old age. This position requires a level of comfort in the community nutrition environment with emphasis on education.
Ã¢Â¢ Registered Dietitian/Registered Dietitian Nutritionist
Ã¢Â¢ Knowledge of food service and quality control
Ã¢Â¢ Valid California driverÃ¢s license and excellent driving record
Ã¢Â¢ Experience providing staff training/education
Ã¢Â¢ Ability to work Saturdays and occasional evenings
Ã¢Â¢ Ability to speak and write in Cantonese
Ã¢Â¢ 1+ year of community work experience
Ã¢Â¢ Previous experience working with people living with HIV/AIDS and/or multiple-diagnosed population
Ã¢Â¢ Experience in developing and executing community based nutrition education classes
Ã¢Â¢ Cooking, recipe and food preparation experience and comfort teaching basic skills
Ã¢Â¢ Experience working with vulnerable populations a plus
Ã¢Â¢ Familiarity with Nutritionist Pro nutrition software
