Job Description and Requirements
Clinical leadership position, that works under the direction of the Division Registered Dietitian/Division Director of Clinical Operations, to provide nutrition services that are in full compliance with all regulatory statutes, company policies and procedures, and financial performance targets. Collaborates with the division operations team to support strategic planning and operational performance. Duties and responsibilities will require moderate travel, day travel 40-50% of time and over-night travel, 20-30 % of time. Responsibilities include: 1) evaluating and implementing appropriate Registered Dietitian and Diet Technician Registered services, 2) coordinating the quality assurance and process improvement processes for internal review and application and client benchmarking, 3) providing professional guidance for education and training initiatives and activities, 4) collaborating with sales and marketing to present the clinical product segment of the dining services to the client and insure that new contracts include clinical guidelines that are aligned with financial targets
Assists the regional/district teams in identifying the staffing patterns for RD, DTR, and CDM team members that meet the clinical care needs in accordance with regulatory requirements and within defined scope of practice.
*Reviews/coordinates the scheduled deployment of the district dietitian team.
*Assists the regional team and/or district team in evaluating indications for staff or contract dietitian positions.
*Assists the regional in recruitment and hiring of qualified Registered Dietitian and Diet Technician Registered staff.
*Assist the regional/district teams in managing salary ranges for professional team members that are commensurate with responsibilities, experience, and prevailing market wage rates.
*Coordinates with the regional/district teams to insure that all Registered Dietitian employees receive appropriate orientation and training, maintain current registration and licensure, and receive performance reviews
*Provides interim assistance with direct resident care (assessments and care planning) in centers as needed.
*Reviews and submits to the Division Dietitian/Director of Clinical Operations requests for menu changes ongoing based on customer request, clinical needs, and market changes in food commodities.
*Assists the regional and district teams with education and compliance with company systems for labor management, menu management, and purchasing.
*Assists the regional manager with expense management associated with menu structure, therapeutic diet extensions, tray extras and supplement use.
*Reviews nutrient and cost analysis reports of menu cycle quarterly or as indicated.
*Tracks and trends regulatory compliance performance data within the division.
*Provides performance assessments, including assessment of staff competencies, unit inspections, and clinical care and services. Assists with the development of process improvement plans as needed.
*Provides the Registered Dietitian team with the most current evidence based clinical guidelines or regulatory updates that would affect their clinical practice.
*Provides support for district teams regarding regulatory guidelines and survey management strategies. Provide direct support for survey management as needed. Participates in developing plans of correction as needed.
*Provide group training, in person, conference call, or other media as needed to the region teams as needed.
*Collaborates with division and regional team in client relationships with existing customers.
*Collaborates with the sales team to represent and market the clinical capabilities of the HCSG team.
*Participate in client meetings for potential clients to discuss options for Registered Dietitian services, quality performance statistics, and quality monitoring processes.
*Collaborates with the sales team to insure that new contracts accurately reflect the desired services level and the financial targets.
*Participates in corporate work groups for strategic planning and product development relative to clinical policies and procedures, clinical infrastructure, and process improvement,
*Participates in Divisional meetings for strategic planning and performance review.
*Participates in other committees as needed.
*Identifies and encourages continuing education activities for self-directed studies, on-line learning, or regional or national meeting that will enhance the skills and professional performance of the clinical dietitian team.
*Minimum of a Bachelors degree in Dietetics from an accredited college or university.
*Registered by the Commission on Dietetic Registration of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics and licensed in Dietetics by the state, as applicable.
*Must have, as a minimum, 1-2 year(s) of dietary experience in long-term care with clinical and food services responsibilities.
*Must provide a criminal background check.
The Registered Dietitian must possess the following:
*Must possess a valid driverÃÃÃÃÃÂ¢s license
*Skill in using public relations techniques to promote the foodservice program to client and residents.
*Ability to interact positively with clients, colleagues, other personnel, and the public.
*Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand the English language and possess good communication skills.
*Must be knowledgeable of dietary practices and procedures as well as the laws, regulations, and guidelines governing dietary functions in the nursing facility.
*Must possess leadership ability and willingness to work harmoniously with and provide guidance to other personnel.
*Must have the ability to plan, organize, develop, implement, and interpret the programs, goals, objectives, policies, procedures, etc., of the Food Services Department.
