Base Salary: $1,594.92 - $1,626.24 Biweekly

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Licensure as a Dietitian or Nutritionist
- Bachelor's degree in public health nutrition and 2 years experience -or- a Master's degree in public health nutrition
- Prior experience with the WIC program

PREFERRED QUALIFICATION:
- Supervisory experience

JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

This position is responsible for supervising staff of the Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants and Children (WIC) located in Apopka, Winter Garden, Call Center and Westside and for the coordination and implementation of special projects and program services for high risk WIC clients. Headquarters for the position is the Orange County Health Department Administrative office. Travel is required, therefore, a valid state of Florida driverâs license and personal vehicle are required. Licensure by the Division of Medical Quality Assurance and registration by the American Dietetic Association are mandatory.

Plans and monitors employee workloads, deadlines and time utilization. Communicates with and motivates employees to attain maximum use of time and resources, as well as accuracy and integrity of work products.

Responsible for all supervisory duties including, but not limited to, hiring and selection, developing performance plans, conducting performance appraisals, planning and directing their work, approving leave, and taking disciplinary action as appropriate.

Serves as the liaison between the Orange County WIC program, area hospitals, and Childrenâs Medical Services, community agencies and private providers. Coordinates care plans and services between WIC program staff, health department staff and community providers/agencies.

Ensures that appointments are available within the timeframes designated to achieve federally mandated processing standards based on site staffing availability. Provides guidance to Call Center staff related to client benefits, food packages, certification and appointments for supervised sites. Researches issues with benefit redemption in FL WiSE and WIC Direct to ensure that client benefits are maintained at optimal levels.

Provides guidance and training at monthly supervisor meetings in the area of customer service. Provides email messages to all staff in assigned area of responsibility. Reviews and updates local Standard Operating Procedures within assigned area of responsibility.

Participates in nutrition program planning including preparation of the annual Nutrition Education Plan. Writes and track performance on a minimum of one objective each fiscal year. Performs monitoring and quality assurance activities at predetermined intervals. Develops and implements appropriate corrective action plans.

Certifies eligible participants to the WIC program in accordance with procedures outlined in DHM 150-24. Performs nutrition assessments and provides in-depth nutrition counseling, prepares nutrition care plans and conducts follow-up activities for WIC program participants and for non-WIC eligible clients as requested.

Prepares records and reports, EAR, leave and attendance and travel records. Summarizes and analyzes statistics of nutrition services and activities at regular intervals.

Reviews and/or approves EAR, leave and attendance and travel records prior to submission

Serves as a consultant on nutrition and dietetics for Health department staff, community agencies and the general public.

Performs other related duties as requested or assigned.
