DESCRIPTION:

This position serves as the Women Infants and Children (WIC) site supervisor at the Naples WIC site for the Department of Health in Collier County (DOH-Collier). In addition to being expected to mentor, develop and supervise both clinical and administrative support staff, the incumbent of this position is also responsible for providing direct client services to WIC program participants. WIC program services are provided in a manner consistent with State and Federal regulation DHM 150-24. Incumbent is expected to comply with and ensure staffâs compliance with all WIC and DOH, operating procedures, and directives, including information, materials, and equipment security. This position is at risk for exposure to Respiratory pathogens (Low Risk Category) under OSHA guidelines and requires annual TB Assessment which may include an Interferon-Gamma Release Assay (IGRA) test or TST; and is required to have up-to-date vaccinations for some vaccine-preventable diseases.



REQUIREMENTS:

A Bachelorâs or Masterâs degree from an U.S. accredited university or college in nutritional science, community nutrition, clinical nutrition, dietetics, or public health nutrition is required. Current licensure as a Florida Dietitian/Nutritionist is required. A valid Florida Driverâs License and the ability to provide reliable transportation are also required. American Heart Association cardiopulmonary resuscitation certification (CPR) required. Incumbent may be required to work additional hours in the event of an emergency or as needed. Emergency duty is required of the incumbent and includes working in special needs or Red Cross Shelter, or to perform other emergency duties including but not limited to responses to threats involving any disaster or threat of disaster, man-made or natural.



MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
-Provides nutrition education and counseling per Value Enhanced Nutrition Assessment requirements and that is appropriate and pertinent to the clients assessed nutrition problems. Medical nutrition therapy provided is consistent with current dietary practice.
-Assesses all nutrition problems presented by each client counseled and assigns correct WIC nutrition risk codes and appropriate food packages.
-Documents assessment, counseling provided, client established goals and food package assigned in the FL-WiSE computer system. Prepares individualized outcome oriented nutrition plan of care for all clients determined as high risk, or receiving medical nutrition therapy.
-Provides and documents appropriate referrals including, but not limited to, the immunization program, medical referrals, family planning, smoking cessation, community food, clothing and shelter sources, and other government assistance.
-Effectively mentors, develops and supervises assigned staff to ensure quality customer service and program compliance. This includes recruitment and training, performance planning and review, scheduled staff attendance/leave to assure clinic coverage, and quality assurance monitoring, perform.
-Assures site inventories (direct issuance formula, ID/VOC cards, EBT cards) are reconciled monthly.
-Accurately and promptly completes all administrative forms including computer data entry of time worked/leave in People First and Health Management System (HMS).
-Assures completion of monthly quality assurance activities and submits to the WIC Coordinator. This includes site record reviews, and reports (High Risk Report, No Show Report, etc).
-Assures that site voter registration activities are performed per National Voter Registration Act (NVRA) requirements.
-Provides nutrition education and outreach to the community.
-Performs anthropometrics- height, weight, and hemoglobin as needed.
-Demonstrates professional growth through at least bi-annual participation in applicable seminars/in-services. Attends staff meetings, in-services and/or quality improvement activities.



KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES DEEMED ESSENTIAL TO THIS POSITION:
-Skill in use of computers, including Microsoft applications such as Outlook, Word, and Excel.
-Ability to learn the FL-WISE computer system, DOH software, and use a calculator.
-Ability to effectively perform nutrition assessments and provide education.
-Ability to accurately document patient records and enter data into system.
-Ability to interact professionally and collaborate with clients, community partners and other DOH staff.
-Ability to effectively supervise staff and assure clinic coverage.
-Ability to provide/learn basic nutrition counseling in Spanish or Creole.
-Ability to work flexible hours and work at different locations if needed.
-Ability to provide reliable transportation.
-Ability to maintain client confidentiality.
