Please note the current requirements for Florida public health nutrition professionals:
Public Health Nutritionists are required to be licensed as a dietitian/nutritionist in the State of Florida. Public Health Nutritionists with advanced degrees and/or experience in public health nutrition may be eligible for higher-level positions.
In order to become licensed, you must attain a minimum of a bachelor's degree in nutrition or dietetics; complete a 900-hour preplanned supervised experience (such as a dietetic internship); and pass the RD exam. RDs are eligible for licensure by endorsement.

Examples of the work:
-Determines nutrition risk eligibility of clients.
-Provides individual nutrition education and counseling.
-Correctly identifies all high-risk clients and medically high-risk clients, completing an individual care plan.
-As necessary, refers client to appropriate outside agencies and resources.
-Protects, promotes and supports breastfeeding; assures local site reflects a Breastfeeding Friendly atmosphere.
