Position Description: The Program Manager will be a full-time, staff position overseeing various administrative and managerial responsibilities of the Education Mission of the Department of Nutrition Sciences within the UAB School of Health Professions.

Its mission is to improve the quality of health through teaching, research and translation of discoveries into practice. The Department of Nutrition Sciences offers Students a comprehensive experience in Nutrition Sciences Education. Opportunities to study the clinical side of Nutrition Sciences is available in the heart of Alabama's top medical center surrounded by UAB Hospital, Birmingham VA Medical Center and Children's of Alabama. The department also offers students opportunities to participate in multi-professional research initiatives in basic, clinical, and translational research at the UAB Cancer Prevention and Control Training Program or at any of three NIH-funded centers on campus: the Nutrition Obesity Research Center, the Diabetes Research Center or the Comprehensive Cancer Center.
The Program Manager for the Education Mission of the Department of Nutrition Sciences is responsible for completing the administrative responsibilities that support the academic programs of the Department of Nutrition Sciences (DNS) and independently working with staff, faculty, students, external stakeholders, and community partners to support DNS Education Mission initiatives. This includes but is not limited to establishing and accomplishing objectives, maintaining policies and procedures according to program needs and accrediting standards. This position actively serves as a liaison between all DNS Education Mission programs, and other service, education, research, and outreach programs throughout the School of Health Professions, the University of Alabama at Birmingham, stakeholders, and community.

Position Requirements: Successful candidates for this position should possess strengths in collaboration, teamwork, event planning, project management and data management and analysis. The ability to effectively manage a wide variety of responsibilities is key to success in this role. Intermediate to advanced skills in the use of software and technology to streamline operations and maintain a high level of personal proficiency are also essential. The ability to develop and deliver presentations to report outcomes is essential. Experience managing employees is preferred.
Applicants should also have a robust background of working with students and faculty and a sound understanding of and experience with academic programs
Bachelor's degree in a related field and three (3) years of related experience required OR Master's degree in a related field and one (1) year of related experience in administration is preferred. Work experience may NOT substitute for education requirement.
