Job Description and Requirements

Primary Purpose of Position
1) To provide intensive individualized nutritional assessment and counseling for high risk patients attending WIC, Maternity, Child Health, Family Planning and Adult Medicine clinics at the Robeson County Health Department and those referred from private sector and Robeson County Home Health Agency.

2) To provide individual nutrition counseling to WIC Program participants with special complex nutritional problems such as diabetes mellitus, chronic hypertension, intrauterine growth retardation, renal disease, cleft lip, cleft palate,cystic fibrosis, Down syndrome, failure to thrive, obesity, cancer, and hyper caloric feedings.

3) Develops specific nutritional care plan for individual with feeding difficulties who may have abnormal and/or delayed developmental disabilities or inborn errors in metabolism. Provides technical aspects of the enteral feedings for medically prescribed diets and assesses, initiates and manages enteral feeding.

Our nutrition staff is an energetic group of professionals
with diverse employment experiences. Our nutrition division operates a WIC program with a caseload of 5000 participants and provides medical nutrition therapy services for all residents of RObeson County. We are located in the southeastern region of North Carolina, 1.5 hrs away from the NC Beaches and 4 hrs from the NC Mountains. Our department has many opportunities for career advancement. Training and Experience - Required Minimum Training
Baccalaureate degree in dietetics, nutrition, or public health nutrition and one year of nutrition experience; or completion of an ADA Commission on Dietetic Registration eligibility preferred; or masters' degree in nutrition of public health nutrition with ADA Commission on Dietetic Registration eligibility preferred; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Bilingual in Spanish will be considered an asset but is not required.

License or Certification Required by Statute or Regulation
Registered Dietitian preferred, but not required.
