Job Description and Requirements
The UMass Extension Nutrition Education Program has full-time openings for a Nutrition Educator position in three offices: Boston, Raynham, and Lawrence.
Assist in planning, conducting and evaluating educational workshops and training sessions for the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program Education (SNAP-Ed) as detailed in the Annual SNAP-Ed Program Plan. Provide nutrition education to Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) eligible youth and adults. Assist in working with collaborating organizations in the delivery of programs at the assigned program sites. Present nutrition education programs and workshops in collaboration with community organizations. Assist with applied scholarly or creative activity or research as applicable. Collect data for required plans and reports. Perform related work as required.
Assist in the implementation, coordination and evaluation of the SNAP-Ed Program including organizing and teaching educational workshops and training sessions for SNAP eligible youth and adults, using research based information.
Assist in needs assessment, formulation of program objectives and design of delivery methods.
Collect data to evaluate program effectiveness.
Assist other staff in collaborative programming.
Represent UMass Extension at the local level with community groups in areas of nutrition, health promotion and disease prevention.
Participate in SNAP-Ed teams and staff meetings. Participate in the development of local SNAP-Ed plan.
Assist in overall program management, in recruiting volunteers, and in management of volunteer activities.
Maintain and increase personal and professional competence through participation in in-service training, professional association activities, and continuing education. With the assistance of the project leader, develop and implement professional development plan.
Work actively to ensure that all programs are conducted in compliance with federal, state and University Affirmative Action policies.
Perform other related duties as assigned.
Work collaboratively and effectively to promote teamwork, diversity, equality and inclusiveness.
Work in partnership with colleagues within the CNS community and across the campus to support the DeanÃÃÃÃÂ¢s strategic priorities.
Perform other duties as assigned in support of the mission and goals of the College of Natural Sciences.
Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, Education, Experience, Certifications, Licensure)
Bachelors degree in nutrition, health or education related field OR Associates degree in nutrition, health, or education related field and 1-2 years relevant experience.
Successful completion of Criminal Offender Record Information (CORI) background check.
Ability to maintain a diverse schedule of local, regional, and statewide activity which is not restricted by access to public or private transportation.
Excellent interpersonal and group process skills, and demonstrated ability to participate effectively in professional team efforts and with diverse groups of people.
Knowledge and demonstrated ability to implement education theories and practices with diverse audiences.
Annual Salary $40,534.78 includes benefits.
