Job Description and Requirements
FNA serves the NICU population of Fairfax, Fair Oaks and Loudoun Hospitals and so will the incumbent in this Nutritionist position, who will serve in a thought leadership role, collaborating with the neonatologists to determine the optimal nutrition for neonate babies. The incumbent will participate in the development of the NICU nutrition care protocols as well as in the education, implementation, and monitoring of these protocols. The incumbent will also be entrusted with a quality improvement initiative over the protocols. She/he will be available for nutrition consultation on individual babies with FNA providers.
This is a Part Time position, approximately 24 hours per week.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
Participation in development of nutrition care protocols for NICU infants and then lead implementation of protocols.
Development and implementation quality improvement projects related to nutritional care of infants.
Consultation with FNA staff as requested on care planning and discharge planning for complex NICU patients.
Liaising between FNA and Inova for customization and use of TPN 2000 and coordinate between FNA and software vendor.
Training of new and house staff on use of TPN software and nutrition care protocols in NICU.
Collaboration on research projects for FNA.
Education & Licensing
Bachelor's degree in nutrition, food service, or community health required; Master's degree preferred.
Board Certification as a Specialist in Pediatric Nutrition preferred.
Registered dietitian, certified by the American Dietetic Association.
Minimum three (3) years of pediatric experience as dietitian.
Two (2) years of experience in health setting as dietitian / patient educator preferred. NICU experience preferred.
