Job Description and Requirements
POSITION OVERVIEW :
99-bed Acute Care Facility
Plans, organizes, directs and guides the activities of the Dietary Services department. Responsible for the management and supervision of all foodservice personnel.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS :
Interviews and hires clinical nutrition and food service employees in accordance with hospital policy.
Oversees the training and orientation of new employees. Completes performance reviews and competency assessments for clinical nutrition staff and assist with these for the food service staff.
Provides counseling and discipline as necessary and completing appropriate documentation for nutrition and food service staff in accordance with CGH Medical Center policies.
Makes and follows through with appropriate management decisions in coordination with supervisors.
Oversees the food procurement process, ensuring safe and cost effective purchases using authorized vendors.
Assures sanitation and safety standards are followed in the work environment. Oversees compliance with HACCP standards, FDA Food Code, and IDPH standards of sanitation.
Supervises planning of cost effective menus which are appealing, nutritionally adequate and compliant with regulatory standards.
Monitors food production to ensure high quality products with optimal nutritional value and provision of therapeutic diet standards.
Directs and participates in the Performance Improvement program of food service and of clinical nutrition in accordance with CGH Medical Center and professional organization standards and submits reports in a timely fashion.
Responsible for the department budget and monitoring of financial statements.
Manages all dietitian staff at CGH Medical Center including the Diabetes Education and Clinic Nutrition Staff to assure compliance with all standards set by professional governing organizations.
Responsible for department policy and procedures manual and monitors compliance of these policies and procedures.
SPECIALIZED KNOW-HOW & REQUIREMENTS:
Bachelor's Degree in Dietetics or Food Service Management required. Registered Dietitian required.
Illinois Certification in Sanitation required. Illinois Registered Dietitian licensure required for RD.
Excellent interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills required.
Demonstrates the knowledge necessary to provide care appropriate to any age-related needs of the patients served on assigned unit. Demonstrates knowledge of the principles of growth and development appropriate to the patient population served. Able to assess and interpret data about the patient status in order to identify each patient's needs and provide the appropriate care, including age-related care, needed by the pediatric, adolescent and/or geriatric patient group.
