ABOUT THE POSITION:
The Food and Support Services Manager is responsible for planning, directing and overseeing the day-to-day food service and laundry operations within the Marin County Jail and Juvenile Hall; dietary planning and ensuring that the nutritional requirements for individuals in a large institutional setting are met; and making sure that all food storage, food handling and kitchen clean-up efforts meet state regulated sanitation requirements. In addition to implementing a nutritionally sound dietary program, the Food and Support Services Manager oversees the purchasing and inventory of supplies for both the kitchen and laundry, while doing so in a cost-effective manner. Because this is a management-level position, the Food and Support Services Manager plans, directs and reviews the work of others through subordinate supervision and is responsible for training others on the policies and procedures related to the work.

ABOUT YOU:
The ideal candidate has operational experience in developing and instituting nutritionally sound meal plans, including dietary and/or religious restrictions, for individuals in a large-scale setting. As head of Food and Support Services, the candidate should be knowledgeable in the principles and practices of employee supervision, work planning, organization, employee performance evaluations, training and discipline. The ideal candidate must be versed in basic budgetary practices and terminology, possess effective record-keeping principles, and can prepare, interpret and reconcile financial records related to the work performed. The ideal candidate must be a self-starter who can organize their own work-load, set priorities and meet required deadlines. The ideal candidate must possess a Food Handler Certificate and also be a currently registered Dietitian by the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics.
