Job Description and Requirements
This position offers a Dietitian I a variety of experiences with clients in acute care, continuing care, outpatients and home care. The Dietitian in this position also links with the Primary Care Network to provide nutrition expertise and care at the Diabetes Clinics; and links with the Alberta Healthy Living Program to provide group education to assist clients in managing chronic diseases. The majority of patients will be adults; however, pediatric clients may be seen in outpatients. Collaboration with all members of the team, from front line food services staff to physicians is required to ensure appropriate nutrition care is provided.
As a Dietitian I, you may provide nutrition expertise to patients (clients, residents) in various AHS facilities and community settings to achieve nutrition and health outcomes. You may be responsible for nutrition assessment, development, implementation and evaluation of nutrition care plans. You may plan and provide public health nutrition services and education programs to promote healthy living and disease prevention for clients/groups in facilities or community settings. Nutrition education is provided to students and other healthcare professionals to support delivery of evidence based nutrition information.

Completion of Bachelor of Science degree with a major in Foods and Nutrition. Completion of an internship program or practicum training program accredited by the Dietitians of Canada. Active or eligible for registration with the College of Dietitians of Alberta (CDA).
Additional Required Qualifications:
The successful candidate will demonstrate a Patient First philosophy; be comfortable teaching clients in a group setting; able to support both adult and pediatric patients; and have excellent time management and interpersonal skills.
Prior experience working in a variety of practice areas is preferred.
