The Department of Food Science and Human Nutrition at Iowa State University seeks applications for a 12-month, full time, non-tenure eligible Clinical Assistant/Associate Professor position to serve as the Director of the Dietetics Internship. The position will be 60% administration, 30% instruction/advising, and 10% Institutional and Professional Service. The DI is a distance education, pre-professional, post-baccalaureate education program preparing students for the national Registered Dietitian Nutritionist credentialing exam. The Director is responsible for assuring that all Accreditation Council for Education in Nutrition and Dietetics (ACEND) accreditation standards, policies and procedures are met. The Director provides leadership, management and supervision to the DI program, instructors (6), and staff (3).
The ISU DI is the largest program in the nation, accredited by ACEND for up to 160 interns per year participating in both the spring and fall DICAS match. The program is also accredited by ACEND to offer an Individualized Supervised Practice Program (ISPP) for individuals with a PhD. The DI is offered as a distance education program throughout the U.S. with approximately 3,000 facilities and preceptors as collaborators. The program also offers interns the opportunity for an international experience rotation. Opportunities are available to assist in the development of optional tracks for the DI, distance education masterÃÂ¢s program (MPP ÃÂ¢ Master of Professional Practice in Dietetics), and distance education pedagogy/technology. Professional development related to instructional pedagogy, educational technology, and distance learning is highly encouraged and supported. http://www.dietetics.iastate.edu/
Candidates are required to be a Registered Dietitian (RD)/Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RDN) and active member of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics. An EdD, DrPH, or PhD in dietetics, nutrition, public health, higher education or related discipline is required. A minimum of three years of professional experience (clinical, management, or community nutrition) post credentialing is required. Candidates with the following experience are preferred: distance education pedagogy and graduate curriculum development; management/supervisory responsibilities; and leadership within the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics. It is expected that candidates will have a demonstrated commitment to social justice, equity, and inclusion. This is a 5 year term-appointment with possible renewal, and promotion in rank is possible.
