Job Description and Requirements
The clinical dietitian specialist is a registered dietitian with clinical expertise and/or credentialing in nutrition support, diabetes care, kidney disease, oncology or gerontology obtained through education, training and/or experience in the field. The Clinical Dietitian Specialist assures optimal nutrition support and care through a) individualized nutrition screening and assessment; b) development of a medical nutrition therapy (MNT) care plan and its implementation; c) monitoring and reassessment of an individual's response to the nutrition care delivered; d) development of a transitional feeding care plan or termination of a nutrition support care plan, as appropriate. Other activities include management of nutrition support, diabetes care, cancer care and dialysis services; development of policies and procedures; training and education of caregivers and healthcare professionals; nutrition related order writing privileges, and participation in research activities. Clinical Dietitian Specialist will assure appropriate and continual care of patients through verbal communication with members of the health care team as well as written documentation in the medical record. Care provided is tailored to patient needs including learning needs, age-specific and addresses cultural/religious considerations. Department may under fill as Registered Dietitian 1
Qualifications/Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Clinical Dietitian 2- U30 $23.16-$30.79
1. Master's degree in nutrition or masters degree in nutrition-related field with dietetic internship or equivalent experience to qualify for registration by the Commission on Dietetic Registration. Bachelor's degree with at least five years of specialist experience may be considered. 2. Current, valid registration to practice as a professional Registered Dietitian by the Commission on Dietetic Registration (CDR). Membership within the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics preferred. 3. Licensed in Ohio to practice dietetics as provided by the Ohio Board of Dietetics. 4. Completion and maintenance of required continuing education to maintain credentials of a registered dietitian and State of Ohio licensure. 5. Adheres to the standards of professional practice as defined by the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics 6. Documentation of three or more of the following: a. Certification by the National Board of Nutrition Support Certification, Inc. as a Certified Nutrition Support Dietitian (CNSD). b. Certification by the National Board of Diabetes Educators as a Certified Diabetes Educator (CDE). c. Certified by the Commission of Dietetic Registration as a Board Certified Specialist in Renal Disease. d. Certified by the Commission of Dietetic Registration as a Board Certified Specialist in Gerontological Nutrition. e. Certified by the Commission of Dietetic Registration as a Board Certified Specialist in Oncology Nutrition. f. Formal education, training and/or continuing professional education in nutrition support, diabetes, kidney disease, oncology and gerontology. g. A minimum of 30-50% professional practice time devoted to the practice of nutrition support, diabetes care, oncology, gerontology or kidney disease. h. Participation in providing medical and health care professional education and training (minimum one time per year). i. Membership in professional societies devoted to nutrition support, diabetes, oncology, gerontology or kidney disease. 7. Demonstrates competency in the nutritional care of patients including age specific, learning and cultural/religious needs.
Clinical Dietitian 1- U37 $22.02-$27.78
1. Bachelor's degree in dietetics or food and nutrition with completion of dietetic internship. Master's degree and membership in Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics preferred. 2. Completion and maintenance of registration as a dietitian as provided for by the Commission on Dietetic Registration through the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics. Will accept eligibility to complete Registration provided it is completed within 3 months of hire. 3. Licensed in state of Ohio to practice dietetics as provided by the Ohio Board of Dietetics. 4. One year work experience in hospital setting as RD, LD preferred. Specialty certification in nutrition support, renal, oncology, gerontology or diabetes education desirable. 5. Demonstrates competency in the nutritional care of patients including age specific, learning and cultural/religious needs. 6. Adheres to the standards of professional practice as defined by the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics
