Job Description and Requirements

Position Title: One-Year Appointment of Open Rank in Human Nutrition
College/Department or Unit: College of Arts and Sciences, Department of Human Nutrition

Job Purpose: Teach a variety of courses in human nutrition and dietetics at the undergraduate and graduate level. Area of expertise in metabolism, nutrition and exercise, nutritional biochemistry, nutritional physiology.

Major Responsibilities:
Teach courses in the area of Human Nutrition both on the undergraduate and graduate level
Conduct research and participate in scholarly activities in area of specialization
Advise and mentor undergraduate and graduate students
Participate in professional stewardship for the department, college, university, and professional organizations related to human nutrition
Mentor undergraduate and graduate research
Have an interest in developing online courses at the graduate program level
Work Environment: Position requires daily contact with students, faculty, and staff on campus. The successful candidate will be required to work with the outside community, other universities, and international schools/companies/partners.
Employment Conditions: A nine-month, full-time appointment. Option of summer employment if funds are available. Salary dependent upon qualifications.


QUALIFICATIONS
Required Qualifications:
Earned doctorate in human nutrition or terminal degree in a closely related field required for appointment at the assistant professor level or higher. Master's degree will be considered for the rank of Instructor.
Registered Dietitian (RD/RDN) credential is highly desirable
Eligible for South Carolina or North Carolina licensure (LD/LDN) in dietetics is desirable
Ability to teach undergraduate and graduate-level courses in human nutrition and dietetics and evidence of teaching effectiveness and commitment to student learning and development
Evidence of scholarly activity and potential research agenda
