Department of Nutrition
The Department of Nutrition in the School of Health Professions and Nursing is seeking a full-time, tenure track candidate at the Assistant/ Associate Professor level to also serve as Program Director for the Food, Nutrition and Wellness Program. This is a 9-month appointment with summer responsibilities for recruitment and advisement of current and prospective students, and orientation to the program for admitted students. Responsibilities include: teaching undergraduate and/or graduate courses in the department as assigned; developing course syllabi for the courses assigned to teach and ensuring that they meet college and department standards; planning lessons and assignments; participating in outcomes assessment; working with department faculty to develop or modify the curriculum for the programs in the department; assessing students' progress by grading papers, tests, and other work; keeping abreast of changes and innovations in the field; conducting research to advance knowledge; participating in scholarly activities; mentoring undergraduate and graduate students who are completing their honors and master's thesis, respectively; publishing original research in refereed journals and serving on department, school and university committees.
Principal Responsibilities for the Program Director of the Food _ Nutrition and Wellness Program are recruitment and retention of students; increasing enrollment; advising students on appropriate career paths; organizing assessment of the program goals and student learning outcomes; program marketing and recruiting; attending open house events; and organizing and managing sites for practicums.
Applicants must have earned doctorate (PhD or EdD) from an accredited institution in food and hospitality management, exercise science, nutrition, or related field with Registered Dietitian (RD) credential preferred. A minimum of five yearsâ experience working professionally; evidence of college-level teaching experience; outstanding oral and written communication skills, excellent organizational and interpersonal skills, and an ability to establish priorities and manage time wisely; an established record of research and scholarly publications and demonstrated skills in leadership and supervision.
