Job Description and Requirements

What are we looking for?
Kellen is seeking a professional to serve as an Account Executive (AE) with both management and scientific/ nutrition skills. The AE will be responsible for developing, organizing and implementing multiple scientific and nutrition affairs initiatives and projects for association clients related to the food industry. The AE will have the opportunity to make a difference by advancing client objectives through management of committees and/or working groups. The AE will also monitor, analyze, interpret, summarize and critique scientific/nutrition information principally relevant to food products, coordinate development of consensus positions for industry, and engage regulators and other third parties on key issues. Experience with state and federal regulations and the regulatory process is beneficial.


Responsibilities:
- Manage science and nutrition-focused committees or working groups for multiple association clients, including developing annual action plans, completing day-to-day management of tasks, addressing projects related to specific industry issues a timely manner, and working with internal teams and/or association client members.
- Schedule and execute regular client meetings/conference calls, including preparing agendas and any other meeting materials, draft and circulate meeting/call minutes, and conduct all other necessary follow up utilizing a consistent process.
- Monitor, disseminate and develop responses to relevant science, nutrition, and regulatory policy proposals.
- Attend public policy hearings, briefings, seminars, coalition meetings, and other events to represent association clients, develop reports, and disseminate to clients.
- Communicate frequently with clients and internal team, and meet deadlines.
- Review scientific reports, articles etc., summarize as needed, and make recommendations for association action which could range from development of position statements, critiques, review articles, press releases or social media content.
- Represent clients in scientific/technical meetings, provide oral and/or written comments as appropriate and provide written meeting summaries.
- Coordinate with internal and external communications teams regarding client issues and lead agreed-upon activities.
- Stay abreast of client industry trends in the scientific and nutrition area and bring these to the attention of the client along with recommended solutions.
- Assist with issues management on crisis related issues, as needed.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with clients, health professionals and other stakeholders.



Am I qualified?
- Masters or higher degree in a discipline related to science (e.g., nutrition, public health) or related field and 3-5 years' experience is desired.
- Registered Dietician (RD), food industry experience, and an understanding of the federal legislative and regulatory process a plus.
- Business and management experience desired.
- Excellent communicator and project manager.
- Strong analytical and organizational skills with consistent attention to detail and deadlines.
- Proven consensus building and leadership skills.
- Conscientious interest in problem-solving and initiative, creativity and determination to evolve successful solutions.
- Self-motivated team player who is accountable for initiating and directing projects through to completion with a minimum of management direction.
- Positive team player in a challenging and changing environment; includes working with a broad range and levels of personnel and clients.
- High energy, versatile and multi-task oriented with flexibility to prioritize diverse workload under competing time requirements and changing deadlines.
- Computer experience to include Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc. with the *Can Do* approach to different and diverse software packages. Experience with EndNote a plus.
