Job Ideas for Non-RDs or those who have completed their didactic training in nutrition but who do not have an RD certificate.

Although most positions in the health and wellness fields require the RD credential, there are opportunities for students who earn their Bachelors degree, but do not complete the RD requirements. Positions include Diet Clerk or Assistant, Food service Supervisor or Manager, Community Nutritionist, jobs in the Hospitality Industry, and Sales and Marketing in the health, pharmaceutical and food industry.   • General nutrition counselor (counseling normal and good nutrition, but not modified diets)

  • Internet – Contributor or employee for nutrition or health-related internet company
  • Nutrition Assistant in Research
  • Nutrition writer for health newsletter, magazine, or other media
  • Nutrition writer for Internet, including nutrition articles, “ask a nutritionist”, message board moderator
  • Personal nutrition coach
  • Quality Control Supervisor at a Food Processing Plant
  • Registered Diet Technician (with certificate) or Nutrition Assistant in hospital, clinic, or other health care setting
  • Research Assistant for a nutrition-related study

  • Sales Representative for medical, aesthetic, or pharmaceutical company
  • WIC Nutritionist (many positions don’t require an RD)
