What attracted you to the field of nutrition and dietetics?
I’ve always had a fascination with food and its healing capabilities. The food science portion of my schooling I found intriguing!
Your Job Title:
Customer Relations Supervisor & Owner of Seeds of Change Nutrition
Company you are with now:
Nature’s One, Inc. manufacturer of organic pediatric nutritional products
– Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/SeedsOfChangeNutrition
A typical (or not so typical) day-in-the-work-life for you:
Supervisory roles, work on nutrition projects for the website and internal employee use, some customer service work. Every day is slightly different!
How did you get your current job in dietetics?
I applied to the position when the job description was handed out in class about 8 years ago. Am starting my own business on the side in nutrition coaching & education.
What skills were you born with and what skills have you learned along the way?
I am a natural born listener and truly care about who is speaking with me. I am also a self-starter, detail oriented and have a lot of patience and interpersonal skills, picking up on people’s feelings quickly. This has helped me in customer service, with co-workers and also much needed to be an effective coach and gumption to start a business.
What advice do you have for others wanting to be just as successful and fulfilled as you?
If you are a dietetics student, take in everything you can while in school! You never know when it will come in handy with a job, even if it is to understand a bigger picture of the company you are working for, or for your own business one day! Get involved, volunteer, network in nutrition associations…experiences and connections are priceless.
If you could be paid for your job with something other than a paycheck, what would it be?
In good health and happiness!! Surrounded by good friends and family, creating wonderful memories.
