What attracted you to the field of nutrition and dietetics?
Growing up in a religious and health conscious household, I’ve always been exposed to people
making food choices to improve themselves. I grew up watching the Food Network (with a side of SpongeBob) and further developed my obsession with food from there. In high school, my undeniable enthusiasm for food and healthful eating led my biology teacher to be the first to suggest and introduce me to the field of nutrition and dietetics. With my unquenchable passion for food in conjunction with my deep romantic love hate relationship with sciences challenges and rewards, a career in nutrition and dietetics has been my pursuit ever since.
School you are studying at now?
Currently studying at San Francisco State University
What area of dietetics do you want to go into once you graduate?
At this point I’m pretty open to anything that will be available to me because my goal is to learn as much as I can from as many areas as possible. I plan on taking all skills acquired along the way into a personal practice and consulting business eventually.
Describe your dream job:
Besides somehow getting paid to drink green juice all day and travel the world, my ideal dream job consists of owning my own food related business, such as a juice bar or small cafe, and doing personal consulting on the side for those interested in taking their health a sip or bite further.
Any special projects or nutrition endeavors you are doing?
I am currently helping out my friend in recipe development for his organic vegan brownie company when I can and am also currently gathering material to start a food blog in the future.

What skills were you born with and what skills have you learned along the way?
I was blessed to be born with the skills of adaptability and common sense. I’ve always been pretty creative in figuring out ways to maneuver around obstacles that present themselves on a daily basis. I enjoy collaborating with creative minds that think similar and differently than I do and seeing what can come about from the fusion.
I have had to learn skills of leadership and time management along the way. I can tap into a less reserved and more outgoing version of myself when I need to take the lead in situations, but it wasn’t something that came naturally for me. I’ve definitely had to learn this along the way and have been blessed to be raised by people that stimulated and guided my growth in this aspect. I also tend to be a very detail oriented person and this has led me down the dark dismal road of poor time management but it’s something that I’m anxious to continue to improve on because I see the grand reward of living a more dense and fulfilled life with excellent time management skills.
I was also not born with, and am still learning the skill of self-control, especially when a recipe turns out to be a little too good.
