What attracted you to the field of nutrition and dietetics?
As a 3rd generation RD-to-be, my appreciation for nutrition and all of the ways in which it can improve quality of life began in my most formative years. My grandmother, mother, and cousin have all led fulfilling careers as registered dietitians. Each of them took a different approach in encouraging a healthy lifestyle that has inspired the drive and positivity from which I draw my motivation. Having nutrition as a constant in my life has provided a foundation for appreciating each day as an opportunity to foster balance and optimism.

What area of dietetics do you want to go into once you graduate & Describe your dream job (combined these two)
I aspire to become an integral part of the upstream preventive approach to wellness. By combining my marketing skill set with expertise as an RD, I will continue to grow Carolyn Victoria Brands while communicating the science behind nutrition. My dream is to lead an initiative that will reduce harmful lifestyle habits and provide for improvement in mindful and behavioral eating patterns.
Any special projects or nutrition endeavors you are doing?
My current business, Carolyn Victoria Brands, utilizes my innovative spirit in creating healthy brands for the wellness community. Clients include but are not limited to dietitians, a local food aggregator, and a non-profit nursing home. I continue to build my network within the wellness industry and love taking part in the thought leadership of healthy brands.
What skills were you born with and what skills have you learned along the way?
I was born with a cheerful personality, sense of socialness, ability to be empathetic with others, flexible nature, intention, energy, and verbal skills.
I have learned business acumen, organizational skills (constant work-in-progress!), goal setting, and the importance of taking a stand where change is needed. Over the years I have grown to see the necessity of a career that fully aligns with my values.
