What attracted you to the field of nutrition and dietetics?
After graduating with my Bachelors degree I worked in a major laboratory analyzing blood specimens. I got tired of receiving elevated readings of cholesterol levels without being able to put a face to the test tube. So I decided I wanted to make a difference by helping people make smart satisfying food choices to achieve a better lifestyle.

A typical (or not so typical) day-in-the-work-life for you?
A typical workday for me is helping empower individuals to achieve their optimal wellness by choosing satisfying foods and giving them the tools to take control to obtain a bountiful lifestyle.
How did you get your current job in dietetics?
I would say the current job I have in dietetics is definitely from networking. While networking I came across many wonderful dietitians, one in which is my mentor today. I am grateful because she has shared and given me the tools to begin my own consulting company.
What skills were you born with and what skills have you learned along
I’ve always enjoyed teaching and sharing with others my passion for cooking. Along the way I’ve learned to be a good listener and to be patient.
What advice do you have for others wanting to be just as successful and fulfilled as you?
If you have not started networking do so and begin to learn from others. Join the Academy of Nutrition & Dietetics and your local dietetic group. Stay current on hot nutrition topics and trends. Volunteer when the opportunity arises to get your foot in the door. But most importantly continue to persevere and don’t give up on your dreams.
If you could be paid for your job with something other than a paycheck, what would it be?
The success stories of clients in how they are achieving their wellness goals. I enjoy the profession that I work in and it gives me great joy to help others achieve their goals.
