Aramark Healthcare has an immediate opening for a clinical dietitian at an acute care hospital system in Chicago, IL. This role plans and administers activities related to resident/patient nutrition care, complying with the standards established by ARAMARK Healthcare, regulatory agencies and client. Establishes and maintains effective working relationships with other departments to provide a unified approach to patient/resident care. Level of expertise and responsibility increases with advancement along clinical ladders. Level of impact is within own operation.
Key Responsibilities
Floating RD - responsible for clinical RD coverage at four hospitals on ad hoc basis
Assists with menu development planning
Updates intranet (Pulse) and SharePoint (FNS) websites with new menu information
Educates staff on new menu changes and hands on training with staff as needed
2nd Level escalation of solving active issue items in the nutrition database
Updates/Programs nutrition database regarding new recipes, new purchased items, specials for patient services, allergy and diet compliances, portion size and production information
In service education on nutrition topics to nursing and nutrition staff
Participate in presenting nutrition-related information at various hospital and community events
Delivers strong operational performance by executing against ARAMARK Healthcare and regulatory agency standards and programs, continually monitoring operations and completing assessments and necessary action plans to provide optimal nutrition care and meal service to patients/residents.
Drives patient satisfaction and maintains client relationship through rounding.
Ensures compliance to food safety, sanitation, and overall workplace safety standards.
Conducts patient nutrition assessment, performs nutrition diagnosis, and develops and implements an individualized plan for nutrition intervention in accordance with the patient's medical program goals and objectives, nutrition prescription, and self-management training. Evaluates the effectiveness and measures progress towards outcomes of medical nutrition therapy interventions.
Provides appropriate and timely documentation that summarizes the nutrition care plan in the patient's medical record, including nutrition assessment, diagnosis, plan, implementation, and progress toward goals.
Works cooperatively with the medical staff and the food and nutrition services staff to assure conformance to prescribed nutrition care orders.
Utilizes assessment and evaluation techniques that consider the varied needs of age-specific populations as well as cultural, religious, and ethnic concerns.
Assesses educational needs and the presence of barriers to learning. Provides nutrition counseling for individuals and groups and adapts teaching method as needed to meet patient learning needs.
Evaluates achievement of learning objectives by the patient and/or family. Provides appropriate follow-up in accordance with the patient's treatment goals, referring patients for outpatient counseling, community, or home health services as appropriate.
Maintains clinical productivity standards and accurate record keeping of daily clinical activities, including information for scheduling and billing.
Demonstrates accountability for the proper use of patients' protected health information.
Maintains dietetic registration, state-required credentials and/or licensure and continuing education requirements.
Qualifications
Ideal candidates will possess a bachelor's degree (BA) from a 4-year college or university. This position requires Registered Dietitian with at least one year of clinical practice experience. Must have valid Licensed Dietitian status, if residing in a state with licensure.
Certified Diabetes Educator (CDE) is required for this role.
Preference for dietitian with specialty in oncology nutrition (CSO) or interest in obtaining.
The ability to communicate (both verbal and written) effectively with clients, customers of client and support staff is required. The ability to write letters, summaries and reports, using prescribed format and conform to all rules of punctuation, grammar, diction and style is required. The ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistics and the ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios and proportions to practical situations is required. Requires management and leadership skills and the ability to work with confidential employee, client and ARAMARK information.
