Job Description and Requirements
KESMM Project Duties
The SNP Unit received a grant from USDA to implement Nutrition and Physical Activity programs. The Nutrition Services Branch was awarded a grant from USDA in the amount of $926,708. The funds from this grant will be used to implement the Kids Eat Smart Move More project. We are seeking a Nutrition Program Consultant to serve as the Coordinator for the Kids Eat Smart Move More project. This is a temporary time-limited position. Position ends in November 2013.
Breastfeeding-Friendly Childcare Designation
Coordinate acceptance and review of applications from child care centers for BF-friendly childcare designation. Develop review form and summary sheet for application review. Establish review team of 6-8 people from WIC, CACFP, DCDEE, Carolina Global Breastfeeding Institute. Set up quarterly application review meetings.
Coordinate training of CACFP staff in 10 Steps to a BF-Friendly Child Care
Set up web page on nutritionnc.com website. Update list of awardees on website page regularly. Maintain web page.
Oversee publicity (develop and release press releases, going through PA process)
Develop CD with sample press releases and logos for awardees.
Coordinate delivery of quarterly webinars with WIC Program staff; update webinars as needed.
Answer questions from CACFP Nutrition Consultants and child care staff and design and provide TA material as needed.
KESMM Community College Curriculum Project
Work with project assistant to review instructor and participant feedback and edit curriculum content.
Work with existing community college partners to ensure continuity of project after pilot is over.
Pursue opportunities to promote KESMM Community College course in all community colleges in NC
Healthy Futures, KESMM Wellness Grants
Work with project assistant to ensure quarterly reports, NAPSACC reports, and NCCARES claim reports from Health Futures and KESMM Wellness grantees are submitted in a timely manner.
Healthy Menus Planning Toolkit
Coordinate release of Healthy Menus Planning Toolkit to CACFP consultants and CACFP participants
Online Nutrition Education Tool
Work with contractor, Western Michigan, to coordinate and market the online Nutrition Education Tool.
Masters degree in nutrition or public health nutrition with three years of administration or supervisory experience. In addition, the AND Commission on Dietetic Registration eligibility, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Knowledge of and experience in federal child nutrition programs, adult learning principals and training professionals, implementing nutrition and/or physical activity programs for preschoolers, program consultation developing nutrition policy. Candidate must be able to travel within and outside of assigned territory as indicated to fulfill program needs. Coordinating grant activities is preferable. Excellent communication skills. Must be able to work cohesively in a team environment.
