Performs teaching, research, and guidance duties in area(s) of expertise as noted below. Shares responsibility for committee and department assignments, performing administrative, supervisory, and other functions as may be assigned.

CAMPUS SPECIFIC INFORMATION
City University of New York (CUNY) School of Public Health (SPH) at Hunter College is establishing
NYC's first public and collaborative School of Public Health, with a focus on urban health, chronic diseases, population aging and health equity. The CUNY SPH is collaboration between the public health programs at Hunter, Brooklyn and Lehman Colleges and the Graduate Center. Building on the strengths of the nation's largest urban public university, the planned SPH will provide graduates with the applied technical and leadership tools they need to create healthier communities. Hiring rank is open at the Assistant or Associate professor level, based upon qualifications. This tenure-track appointment will be made at Hunter College for the academic year commencing September 2010. Hunter College seeks candidates with extensive experience and qualifications in nutrition.

Successful candidate will:
- Develop and teach undergraduate, master's and doctoral courses in nutrition and food science.
- Develop alternative methods of program delivery, including web-based courses.
- Integrate community resources into the classroom.
- Work with student organizations and relevant industry and advisory groups to promote the program.
- Participate in and seek funding for nutrition and interdisciplinary research in such areas as chronic.
diseases, health promotion, healthy aging and other nutrition-related urban health issues.
- Publish in scholarly journals.
- Participate in faculty governance.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Ph.D. degree in area(s) of expertise, or equivalent as noted below. Also required are the ability to teach successfully, interest in productive scholarship or creative achievement, and ability to cooperate with others for the good of the institution.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- RD credentialed nutrition specialist with a doctorate in nutrition, food science, public health or a related field.
- Experience in teaching nutrition courses, particularly advanced nutrition, nutrition research and nutritional biochemistry.
- Preference will be given to candidates with a well-defined research agenda and history of extramural funding.

COMPENSATION
Salary offers will be commensurate with experience, academic accomplishments and national reputation.
